Borneo was part of region called “Malaysia” (1903)

The word “Malaysia” was used back in the day to describe a region that consists of islands or archipelagos of South East Asia – Borneo included. Here, both American and British governments attempted to safeguard their territorial interest amidst a territorial row in Sulu sea. I published the event previously in this post.

Perkataan “Malaysia” digunakan pada masa itu untuk menerangkan satu kawasan gugusan kepulauan di Asia Tenggara – termasuk Borneo. Petikan akhbar ini melaporkan sentimen kerajaan Amerika Syarikat dan Britain dalam melindungi hak pemerintahan kawasan mereka dalam satu perselisihan wilayah di laut Sulu.
